The Pittsburgh Steelers have been able to win a lot of games this season despite a mediocre offense.
Pittsburgh ranks 28th in scoring offense, 26th in yards and has a below-average passing attack and average-at-best running back.
And before Week 13, the Steelers were in complete control of their playoff destiny at 7-4 with matchups against the downtrodden Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots on the docket.
Pittsburgh lost both games, though, and now appears to be floundering with four games left in the regular season.
They’re also on the outside of the playoff field currently because of their 7-6 record.
The Steelers are at a crossroads at this point in the season: They can either continue to fight for a playoff spot or continue to lose games to get a better draft pick.
CBS Sports’ Adam Schein thinks their horrific season is a sign Pittsburgh should do the latter.
“This is a mess in Pittsburgh,” Schein said.

The Steelers’ youthful offensive core of Kenny Pickett, Najee Harris, Diontae Johnson, and George Pickens hasn’t looked right all season long.
A lot of that is on the subpar play of Pickett and Harris, but some of that could have been attributed to since-fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
But with Canada gone, there is no one else to really blame.
The Steelers need to take a holistic look at their immediate and long-term future.
Is Kenny Pickett the future?
Should Mike Tomlin keep his job?
With four games left on the schedule – three against playoff contenders – the Steelers have some important questions to answer in the waning weeks of the 2023 season.
