LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey showed up to the team’s season opener in Las Vegas the only way she knows how.
Wearing a sequined suit that looked like a blackjack table threw up on her, Mulkey made a loud entrance to T-Mobile Arena for the Tigers’ opener following their first national championship in program history.
“I just want to do everything I can to bring attention to women’s basketball and LSU,” Mulkey told Turner Sports’ Taylor Rooks pregame. “This has kind of, I guess, become a thing with me. I’m playing the part, let’s put it like that,” Mulkey continued.
She certainly has worn some outlandish suits in the past, including last year during LSU’s run to the national title.
In the team’s Sweet 16 win against Utah, Mulkey dressed like a bird. In the finals, she wore a Tiger-striped suit to mark the occasion.
Her suits are always attention-grabbing, but the Tigers should draw more eyes on the court this season. LSU is loaded, with star forward Angel Reese, transfers Hailey Van Lith and Aneesah Morrow, as well as an outstanding freshman class headlined by five-star guard Mikaylah Williams.
Per Covers, LSU (+230) is the favorite to win the 2024 Women’s NCAA Tournament.
