On Friday through Sunday, Formula One closes out its tripleheader in the Americas in one of its most historic destinations: São Paulo, Brazil.
The São Paulo Grand Prix course, known for its banked curves, wild weather and incredible fan support, is a longtime favorite of drivers. Brazilian driving legend Emerson Fittipaldi won the first São Paulo race, held in 1973, and the event always seems to have unexpected results.
In 2008 at São Paulo, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton took home his first world championship, beating hometown hero Felipe Massa on the final day of the season. Hamilton has since been “adopted” by Brazil and was made an official citizen of the country in 2022.
