The Brooklyn Nets didn’t end last season on a high note, but they’ve left some good sensations early in this campaign.
Granted that they’re still 1-2, but the two games they lost were by a combined six points, and were against two teams expected to be playoff contenders (Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks).
To make things more impressive, they’ve played down two starters in two of their three games, as Nic Claxton and Cam Johnson have been out with injuries.
That’s why Cam Thomas has had to step up and carry the load for Jacque Vaughn’s team, and he has been on fire to start the season.
As a matter of fact, he’s joined Shaquille O’Neal in an elite club, becoming the second-youngest player to start a season with three straight 30+ point games (via SportsCenter).

If you’ve been paying attention, this shouldn’t come as a surprise at all.
Thomas has been a walking bucket dating back to his days in college, and he had some similar offensive explosions last season when he was required to start with Kevin Durant injured.
Both coming off the bench and starting, Thomas has been perhaps the hottest offensive player in the league through his first three games, as he’s averaging 33.0 points per game on 61.4% from the floor.
In fact, he put up 33 points with just one three-pointer against the Charlotte Hornets, putting on a mid-range and layup masterclass.
Thomas was supposed to be the sixth man for the Nets this season, but coach Vaughn will have to reconsider that now, even when Cam Johnson is able to come back.
