During the NBA offseason, the league made a point of addressing some areas of concern, which were star players around the league resting too much and players flopping.
Although flopping has been a concern for quite some time, it could be argued that the league has let things slide a little too much in that category over the last few years, leading to some new rules.
One rule that we haven’t seen enforced yet is players getting technical fouls for flopping during games, which is bound to come in the first set of games this week to set the standard.
Even though that hasn’t been handed out in a game yet, the league has fined its first player for flopping this season, which came at the expense of Josh Okogie of the Phoenix Suns.
Although this is questionable, Okogie supposedly embellished getting pushed from behind by Kevon Looney of the Golden State Warriors during their season opener at the Chase Center, via Basketball On X.

It’s interesting that the league would pick this as a flop that deserved a fine, as it really is a questionable call that went unnoticed in the game itself.
However, the league likes to set a standard to start the season, with players getting called for things more often than not in order to show players and teams how things will be officiated from here on out.
As for Okogie, he played well in the win over the Warriors, finishing with 17 points and five rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor.
