Canada has clinched a berth in the Paris Olympics following an 88-85 win over Spain at the FIBA World Cup.
Canada was trailing 73-61 heading into the fourth quarter in the must-win game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alezander led the way for Canada with 30 points four rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Dillon Brooks added 22 points while Willy Hernangomez scored 25 points for Spain.
With the victory, Canada will move on to the quarterfinals of the FIBA World Cup after finishing at the top of Group L.
The last time the Canadian’s men’s basketball team qualified for the Olympics was back in 2000.
