Texas Rangers updated Team Outlook after star pitcher Max Scherzer was acquired in a blockbuster trade from the New York Mets. The Rangers sit atop of their division in the AL West and decided to add a frontline starter with ace Jacob DeGrom out for the year with injury. By trading for Scherzer, the Rangers are adding a 3-time Cy Young award winner with considerable experience and a 4.01 ERA this season across 19 starts with the Mets. Scherzer waived his no trade clause in order to complete this trade and has exercised his $43.33 million player option as part of the deal.
