Many feel the New York Jets have at least a puncher’s chance at reaching the Super Bowl this year, but there is also the possibility that things implode for them.
All outcomes are possible because of the arrival of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was acquired in a trade with the Green Bay Packers during the offseason.
Rodgers’ talents and skills are undeniable, but he has also gained a reputation over the last couple of years as something of a diva.
There have been reports that Rodgers is already feeling impatient and frustrated, and commentator Nick Wright feels the scene is set for him to feel even worse once the regular season starts, via “First Things First.”
“As we get closer to actual football games, it’s going to start to set in on Aaron Rodgers, ‘Man, I bit off a lot here.’ With everyone loving the Jets defense, everyone talking Super Bowl, it’s an ominous task.”

In Green Bay, Rodgers was accused by some of having an inflated sense of self-importance, and so far in New York, he has been making a pretty good impression, as Wright pointed out.
But at age 39, perhaps he won’t be able to rise to the lofty expectations that some have for his new team.
The Jets do have what was one of the NFL’s best defenses in 2022, and on offense, they have upstart wide receiver Garrett Wilson, as well as wideout Allen Lazard, who became one of Rodgers’ favorite targets in Green Bay.
They have also brought in another Rodgers cohort in offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who was the Packers’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021.
The quarterback’s production fell last season, and it is very possible that it was just the start of a permanent decline for him.
