Wallabies coach Eddie Jones has made the brutal decision to axe Michael Hooper ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports Hooper was informed on Wednesday he will not be on the plane to France for the sport’s showpiece event.
Hooper, 31, captained the Wallabies at the last World Cup, and made his Cup debut in 2015, but it appears he won’t be seen at the tournament again.
The 125-Test great, and current Wallabies co-captain, has been struck down by a calf injury and Jones has opted not to risk him.
The full 33-man Wallabies squad will be unveiled on Rugby Heaven on Stan Sport at 6.30pm (AEST) on Thursday.
Wide World of Sports will publish the full squad here as soon as it is named.
