Axios and former Kotaku head, Stephen Totilo, has commented on the rumour of the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising being canned at Ubisoft. Totilo says that from what he had heard, the game it was shaping up really well and centred around the theme of the ancient Polynesian gods. Totilo said that he’s also heard that Ubisoft is tightening its efforts around the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game, codenamed Assassin’s Creed Red, which is currently being developed at Ubisoft’s Quebec City studio and is sure to bring in the money for Ubisoft once it is released. Here’s what was said:
“Asking around, I heard that Immortals 2’s focus on Polynesian gods was promising and being handled well. But it sounds like getting AC Red done is the priority at the Quebec City studio”
“Notable that Ubisoft’s statement says staff is being moved to unannounced projects, which I’m sure is the case for many. But the expectation from people I spoke to close to Ubisoft was that Red could use more people (as does Hexe) as Ubisoft bets on AC for its future”
