Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell is set to play his 150th NRL game when he takes to the field in a few hours’ time.
Mitchell, who began his career as a dominant centre, has made the shift to the No.1 jersey over the last few seasons with the Bunnies.
While he has enjoyed some typically dominant games in the fullback position, he’s also found himself on the periphery for some of them.
League legend Andrew Johns has urged Mitchell to mirror the likes of Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards, by being more consistently involved in the Rabbitohs’ play.
“He’s got that much influence on the game and his teammates that he’s got to be the one looking to turn the momentum.
“So he needs to get on-ball with Damien Cook coming out of trouble and Cam Murray, that combination around the middle. Then once they get over halfway, he’s got to get around Cody (Walker), and I’d like to see him get on the right with Lachlan Ilias.
“I’d just like to see him involved more, (get) more touches of the ball. The big one is, coming out of trouble, he needs to get around Cook and Cam Murray.”
