Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts is off to a ridiculous start to the 2024 season and is making sure fans don’t forget about him amidst all the hype surrounding the signings of Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Betts has put up historic numbers so far that have him being compared to one of the game’s all-time greats.
According to Codify, Betts is one of two players ever to put up 14 runs and 11 RBI in his team’s first eight games, with the other being Hall-of-Famer Ken Griffey Jr. in 1997.
The only two players in MLB history to rack up 14+ runs and 11+ RBI in his team’s first 8 games of a regular season:

Betts also has five home runs and eight walks so far with just four strikeouts, and is sporting a gaudy .500/.605/1.167 batting split while playing mostly shortstop for the first time in his career.
Betts had a massive year in 2023 as he hit .307, which was the first time he hit over .300 since his MVP campaign in 2018, as well as a career-high 39 home runs, 107 RBI, and 96 walks.
The Dodgers are 6-2 and are looking every bit like the juggernaut they were projected to be, which is bad news for the rest of the National League.
Freddie Freeman and Will Smith are also both hitting well over .400 so far, while new outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has four homers and nine RBI of his own.
The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks will be looking to give the Dodgers a run for their money in the NL West after each team had a strong offseason, but it’s going to be hard to keep up with an offense like this, especially once Ohtani gets going.
