The 2023-24 NBA season is just past its midway point, and the playoffs will arrive before we know it, meaning it’s definitely not too early to make some educated guesses on how the postseason will play out.
The Boston Celtics, at least thus far, have looked like the best team in the NBA, as they have the league’s best record at 36-11 and are second in both offensive and defensive rating.
Some may be picking the Denver Nuggets, who are the defending world champions, to win it all again — they have risen to second place in the Western Conference and have a little more depth than initially expected.
But ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins, who won a title with the Celtics in 2008, didn’t pick his old team to win the title this season — instead, he picked the Los Angeles Clippers.
“I have the Clippers winning the NBA Championship this year!” Perkins said in a tweet.
You can write down and take a picture!!! I have the Clippers winning the NBA Championship this year! Carry the hell on… https://t.co/VHusfnBlsL

Lately, the hottest team in the league has been the Clippers, who are 30-15 and have been climbing the standings in the Western Conference.
They have become an elite offensive team thanks in part to the addition of future Hall of Famer James Harden, who they acquired via trade early in the season.
However, the two knocks on them are the health concerns for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, as well as the checkered playoff history that George, Harden, and Russell Westbrook have.
Harden has a long history of playing poorly in elimination games, while George can be wildly inconsistent offensively when the bright lights of the playoffs come on.
But with their ample offensive fuel and star power, the Clippers should at least be in the conversation for the NBA championship this May and possibly June.
