Aussie tennis legends John Millman and Lleyton Hewitt will both play a surprise role in the lead-up to tonight’s men’s singles final.
Speaking on Wide World of Sports’ The Afternoon Serve, Millman revealed that he had been asked by Daniil Medvedev’s team to help warm up the three-time finalist ahead of the final.
“I’ve got to fire big Daniil up,” he said.
“He’s requested Channel Nine crewman John Millman hit with him so I’m going to warm him up and hopefully I give him a good one. Hopefully, he gets out of the blocks early because he needs to.”
It was then disclosed that two-time grand slam champion Hewitt would be warming up Jannik Sinner.
“There’s a bit of pressure,” Millman said.
“Whichever player starts off better, [their hitter] will have bragging rights at Channel Nine.
“So, C’mon Daniil. Get out of the blocks early.”
