Iga Swiatek’s rise to the top of the world rankings has been nothing short of astonishing.
The Pole was only 15 when she turned pro in 2016, and then came through qualifying to win her maiden title on her professional debut.
She broke into the top 100 in 2019 aged only 17.
Swiatek is the Queen of Clay. She’s won three of the past four Roland-Garros crowns and also won the 2022 US Open.
With her first Roland-Garros victory in 2020, Swiatek announced her arrival on the world stage. At No.54, she was the lowest-ranked champion in the history of the WTA rankings, and the youngest champ since Rafael Nadal in 2005.
Swiatek inherited the world No.1 ranking after Ash Barty’s retirement, and she held it for a subsequent 75 weeks – the third-longest streak at the top for a player in their first stint.
She’s got 17 WTA titles to her name to go with her four slams.
Given she’s still only 22, there is little doubt Swiatek will finish her career significantly further up this list.
