A fortnight from the tournament, organisers have announced a $10 million increase to the Australian Open prize pool.
The money will be spread across the singles and doubles draws across men and women.
The total pool is now $86.5 million, up 13 per cent from 2023. The singles champions will now pocket $3.15 million each.
“It is critical to the continued success of the Australian Open that we ensure that the best players in the world are compensated appropriately,” AO tournament director Craig Tiley said in a statement.
“We know this allows players to invest in their own careers and in many cases, helps set them up for success throughout the year.
“We want to ensure Australia remains the launchpad for the global tennis season and the players and their teams have everything they need to help them perform at their best and continue to enjoy the Happy Slam.”
The increase in prize money will trickle from the singles winners, all the way down to players eliminated in the first round of qualifying.
Those players will now receive $31,250 – up 20 per cent on last year.
The prize pool for the AO has more than quadrupled since 2005, where it was $19.1 million.
AO qualifying gets underway on Monday, January 8, before the first round of main-draw action starts the following Sunday, January 14.
