So far, this has been another messy season for the Las Vegas Raiders, and after a poor showing on Monday against the Detroit Lions, management decided to fire head coach Josh McDaniels.
Antonio Pierce, who was hired last year to be the Raiders’ linebackers coach, will now serve as their interim head coach.
Pierce played nine seasons in the NFL and won a Super Bowl championship with the New York Giants during the 2007 season, and as fortune would have it, his first game as a head coach will be against the Giants.on Sunday.
Per Tina Nguyen, he sounds excited for the opportunity.
#Raiders interim HC Antonio Pierce on facing his former team #Giants: “How about that? Couldn’t write it up. It’s not Antonio Pierce vs NYG. It’s the Las Vegas Raiders vs NYG. It’s a much needed win for us. We had 2 ugly losses. It’s time to change that.”#RaiderNation

Las Vegas lost to the Lions, 26-14, on Monday, and they were perhaps lucky the margin was only 12 points.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed only 10 of 21 pass attempts for 126 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception, and he got sacked six times.
As a team, Las Vegas was only able to muster 77 net passing yards and 157 total yards in the contest, and none of their players had as many as 30 receiving yards.
Defensively, they have struggled all year to contain the run, and on Monday, they allowed Detroit rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs to run for 152 yards on 26 carries.
The Giants are going through their own miserable season, as they hold a 2-6 record and are coming off a nearly unwatchable 13-10 overtime loss to the New York Jets in which they had an unbelievable -9 net passing yards.
If the Raiders don’t win this game at home, it will be a sign that their problems are even worse than they seem right now.
