NBA players, and especially top-notch prospects, often deal with plenty of pressure and attention.
That’s especially true when you’re deemed the greatest prospect of all time, a unicorn, and whatnot, just like Victor Wembanyama.
However, despite being in the spotlight for the past couple of years — and especially the past year — the French standout continues to be a humble, down-to-earth, and hard-working young man.
When asked about Wemby, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich praised him for being so mature (via HoopsHype).
Gregg Popovich on Wemby: “There’s been a lot of hype around him for a long time and he doesn’t let it affect him. He’s very mature. He’s very emotionally strong. His priorities are in order.” pic.twitter.com/yGLHVFQrU0

Popovich stated that Wembanyama was unfazed by the pressure or the attention, talking about how he keeps the main thing the main thing and has his priorities in order.
Wembanyama’s work ethic and feel for the game were two of his most talked about intangibles.
Most international prospects — and even some national ones — would’ve sat out for the season after securing the No. 1 pick, looking to work on their game while avoiding injuries.
That wasn’t the case with Wemby, who led his team to the French league final and wanted to keep competing and proving himself to the world.
There has been a lot of talk about how he needs to bulk up and how he could end up being a bust because of his lanky frame.
But he’s a special kind of talent and someone who’s simply mesmerizing every single time he sets foot on the court.
And with that work ethic and mindset, the Spurs organization will make sure to bring the best out of him in no time.
