The Pittsburgh Steelers are lucky to be 1-1. They beat the Cleveland Browns on Monday night, 26-22, but that was due in large part to the Steelers defense scoring two touchdowns. While the defense has been electric, the offense has been anemic.
Pittsburgh ranks No. 31 in total offense, and the lack of production led to major boos in Pittsburgh during the tilt with the Browns. There were even fans expressing their displeasure with offensive coordinator Matt Canada, breaking out into “Fire Canada!” chants.
While some have been quick to point the finger at Canada, others have blamed second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett as the main reason the Steelers offense has been scuffling. Upon a deeper dive into the matter, it’s clear Canada is the biggest problem holding this offense back.
Per NFL analyst Warren Sharp, Canada’s play calls on first down have been disastrous.
